About Me

Hi! I’m Sarah Jean.

I started creating handmade pet bandanas and hair scrunchies in 2019 as a way to make something special for my dog, Toby. When I couldn’t find bandanas that felt unique or really suited him, I decided to try making some myself. What began as a small, personal project quickly turned into a passion that I’ve been growing ever since — all while balancing a full-time nursing job.

My love for animals goes beyond just my own pets. I also volunteer at the SPCA when I can - showering the shelter fur babies with a lil extra love, decking them out in cute bandanas and advocating for them to find the loving homes they deserve.

I have my own little (rescued) furry family - two cats (Charley and Ivey) and one dog (Leonard). I still think about Toby often; he's the reason Handmade by Sarah Jean exists, and he's always part of my story.

Each bandana and scrunchie is made with care, mixing fun patterns and quality fabrics to add a bit of personality to your pet’s (and your) everyday style. I love collaborating with customers on custom designs, so don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or ideas.

Thanks so much for stopping by and supporting a small business that’s all about celebrating the bond between people and their pets.

Feel free to follow along on social media to keep up with new designs and updates — I’d love to connect!

TOBY

I adopted Toby from the SPCA in 2013. He was my best buddy and shadow - we went everywhere together. Saying goodbye in 2022 was one of the hardest things I’ve done, but Toby will always be in my heart. He was my first dog, the best boy, and I’ll love him forever ♥

CHARLEY

I adopted Charley (previously Penne) from the SPCA in 2022. It took a while for her to come out of her shell, but now her personality shines through. She’s independent but affectionate and SO nosy. She is never far from the kitchen - especially when she smells chicken or cheese.

IVEY

I adopted Ivey (aka Lasagna) in 2022 with his big sister Charley. Ivey is a little on the shy side, but is a huge snuggle bug and personal space does not exist with him around. You can usually find him napping in weird positions or playing with his favourite "toys" (twist ties, Q-tips, cream lids.. basically anything but his cat toys).

LEONARD

We adopted Leonard (previously Chaos) from the SPCA in 2025. He is goofy, full of energy and is absolutely obsessed with fetch. He is still working on his "modelling" skills (aka sitting still for longer than 2 seconds), and loves to cuddle like he's a lap dog.
